Committee of the month: PAK

The PAK (Panache Activity Committee) is the committee that organizes most of the exciting Panache activities that happen throughout the year. This includes things such as pizza and cocktail parties, movie nights, picnics, trips to tournaments such as the Dutch Open and German Open, and many more.

The PAK aims to organize around two activities in each month, which makes it one of the most active and important committees of Panache. The committee is tasked with deciding on what activities to organize and ensuring that they happen. As there are a lot of exciting activities going on, the PAK is highly active all year round.

We have many activities coming up this year as well, so keep an eye out for them both in this newsletter and future editions of it as well. 😉

Panache History with Melle: P.K.K.’s

A central part of Panache are its committees, not just for the functioning of the association but also for having some fun. Today I would like to zoom in on one interesting trend: the P.K.K. committees.

The Panache history booklet does not mention exactly how and why this started, but from 1996 onwards many new committees all had the same abbreviation: P.K.K.

These abbreviations all stand for the Panache K…. Kommissie (kommissie is the Dutch word for committee) where the middle word always starts with a “K”. In total between 1996 and 2004 20(!) of such committees were founded, ranging from quite useful like the complaint committee, to just pure nonsense like the kroket committee. 

Somewhere throughout the years these committees disappeared as the founding members left, and the committees became dormant. Currently, out of the original 20 committees only 2 remain :(. But fear not, new P.K.K. committees are still being added to the list like the panache konstitutie kommissie established in 2023.

Start-up Panache Mix Tournament

This is a new tournament organised by the candidate board (Thomas, Joey, Ilja, Nicholas and Max). The tournament will be the perfect place to play with a lot of different people, and get to know each other better. All the qualification rounds will be played with a new random partner, and afterwards you’ll be playing in fixed pairs for the knockout stage. Participation is free, however for participating in the intermediate category you do have to bring your own feather shuttles to use. 

Important information! 

 – Date & Time: Sunday, October 4th | 09:00 – 16:00 (and till 17.00 in the SSCE cafe afterwards)

 – Location: Student Sports Centre Eindhoven (SSCE) (sports card is required)

 – Format: 2v2 Random Doubles (3×15 points format)

A new season, time to represent Panache! 

At Panache we love merch, over the years we’ve had many different merch products, like water bottles, hoodies, sweatbands and now overgrips as well! Some activities like joining trainings or members weekend may also lead to getting limited edition exclusive merch (like a PJ shirt with last trainings weekend).

In the past you could easily miss out on some of this merch, but now we have the merch shop. Through the online webshop, you can easily order your merch and pick it up at the training sessions. 

The newest addition to the merch are the overgrips, these have been available for a while now, they feature the Panache logo, both embossed in the grip as well as printed on the tape. They only cost €0,50 making them amongst the cheapest grips available!

Additionally, we also have our very own competition shirts. These can be bought through badmintonplanet. You can go to their store in Eindhoven, and ask them for a Panache T-shirt (or send them an email to order online). This shirt costs €25,00, and is necessary to have for all competition players, but can also be bought by others if they want to show up in Panache clothes! Note: the shirts are currently not available as the logos for the shirts need to be restocked, once they are available again, we’ll send a message on whatsapp and update this note.
